About Bikes and Bids
Bikes and Bids is an online auction marketplace for motorcycles. It's built for collectors, enthusiasts and private sellers who want a transparent, well-documented way to buy and sell.
We aren't starting from zero. Our sister brand, Bikes and Beards, reaches several million riders every month. SRK Cycles brings years of experience in online motorcycle sales, title processing and nationwide fulfillment. The platform is built and ready. We now need someone to fill it with great motorcycles and run the marketplace.
The Role
The Founding General Manager owns day-to-day operation of Bikes and Bids. Your most important job is bringing in sellers: finding, securing and managing consignments that meet our standards. You'll also produce listings, run live auctions, handle settlement, and write down how it all works so the operation can grow.
This is a hands-on leadership role. In the first year you'll do most of the work yourself, and you'll hire and hand off pieces of it as volume grows. The Founder leads marketing and overall strategy. Legal counsel and software engineering are already in place.
What You'll Do
*Consignment and Seller Acquisition (Primary Focus)*
- Build and manage a pipeline of qualified consignors: private collectors, dealers, estates, clubs and enthusiast communities
- Do outbound business development, including phone outreach and attending industry events and auctions
- Evaluate submitted motorcycles for authenticity, condition, documentation and market value
- Negotiate reserve prices using current market comparables
- Set and enforce the curation standards for which consignments are accepted and which are declined
- Serve as the consignor's main point of contact from first conversation through settlement
*Auction Production*
- Produce complete listings, including written descriptions, photo selection and sequencing, spec verification and provenance research
- Keep listings accurate and honest, with full disclosure of known defects, mechanical needs and cosmetic condition
- Verify title status, ownership documents and liens before any listing goes live
- Manage the production calendar so auctions launch on schedule
*Auction Administration*
- Serve as the main point of contact for registered bidders
- Moderate comments, answer bidder questions and uphold community standards
- Screen and verify bidders, and watch for and prevent bid manipulation
- Run post-auction settlement, including payment collection, title transfer, and coordinating the handoff between buyer and seller
- Resolve disputes, non-payment situations and underbidder escalations
*Business Operations*
- Build and execute the launch plan and weekly operating calendar
- Track and report key metrics: consignment volume, sell-through rate, average sale price, fee revenue and consignor retention
- Write and maintain an operating manual covering intake, production, auction monitoring, settlement and dispute resolution
- Bring market needs and prioritized feature requests to the development team
- Work with the content team on auction promotion and audience engagement
- Recruit, train and manage production and support staff as volume grows
What You Bring
*Required*
- Deep motorcycle knowledge that earns immediate credibility with serious private sellers
- Strong writing skills, since listing copy is a core part of this job
- A track record of sourcing, brokering or selling high-value assets from private owners
- Experience building a function, territory or business unit from scratch with minimal supervision
- Availability on evenings and weekends when auctions close
- Residence in Texas, or willingness to relocate
*Preferred*
- Experience in auctions, consignment, collector vehicles, powersports or online marketplaces
- Working knowledge of vehicle title, registration and transfer requirements
- Existing relationships in the collector, vintage or custom motorcycle community
- Comfort with e-commerce admin tools, spreadsheets and writing clear requirements
- Photography, videography or on-camera experience
Work Environment and Travel
- Based in Texas: Remote
- Travel: 25%
- Evening and weekend availability during active auction periods
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary
- Performance incentive
