Position Summary

Alacura is a leading medical transportation management company that partners with health plans to ensure members receive the safest, most clinically appropriate, and cost-effective medical transportation.

The Chief Medical Officer provides physician leadership and clinical oversight of Alacura’s Utilization Management program, including medical necessity determinations, physician review processes, clinical criteria, appeals, peer-to-peer reviews, and clinical quality for medical transportation requests that include interfacility, ground ambulance, and air ambulance transport.

As part of this role, the CMO will also act as a physician reviewer, applying evidence-based clinical criteria, regulatory guidelines, and sound clinical judgment to determine the appropriate level of care and mode of transport while supporting high-quality patient outcomes.

This role requires an experienced Emergency Medicine physician with utilization management expertise who is comfortable conducting peer-to-peer discussions, collaborating with health plans and providers, and contributing to the continued development of Alacura's clinical programs and transportation management solutions.

Essential Responsibilities

• Establish the organization's clinical philosophy, set standards for clinical decision-making, and ensure UM activities remain evidence-based and patient-centered.
• Oversee development, adoption, and maintenance of clinical guidelines and decision criteria, including the appropriate use of nationally recognized criteria and specialty-specific evidence
• Work with the CEO/COO and other executives on growth strategy, product development, clinical differentiation, operational efficiency, and partnerships.
