The Doctor is an LGBTQ+-focused primary care practice with clinics in West Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles. For eleven years we've built care around the patient, not the system: inclusive primary care, HIV prevention and treatment, gender-affirming care, sexual health, weight management, and mental health — with evening hours and a team that patients come back to.

We run on modern tools (Rippling, RingCentral, DrChrono) and we are building HUNTI, an AI health sidekick for our patients, with real clinicians at the table. We are direct, fast, and respectful. We don't do bureaucracy, and we don't tolerate anything that undermines the team or the patient.

The role

We are looking for a California-licensed physician to become our Medical Director and supervising physician as our current medical director steps back after many years. This is a working leadership role, not a nominal one, and it is designed to fit alongside your existing practice.

You would be the physician who leads clinically for a team of nurse practitioners (and future physician associates), keep the practice compliant, be our physician of record with payers, and serve as the physician shareholder and officer of our affiliated professional corporation, which is managed by The Doctor Health Center, Inc. under a management services agreement.

Almost all of the work happens online: tasks, documents and e-signatures in Rippling; video, calls and chat in RingCentral; charts in DrChrono. You keep your other practice. We ask for one on-site day per quarter and reliable responsiveness, not a clinic schedule.
