Job Summary

The Global Payroll Director – Operations & Compliance is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the company's global payroll functions, ensuring operational excellence, compliance with applicable regulations, and effective vendor management. This position provides practical oversight and coordination support for payroll teams across North America, EMEA, and APAC regions. The role involves managing relationships with payroll vendors, supporting payroll review processes, and ensuring timely and accurate payroll delivery worldwide. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of global payroll operations, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of compliance and service quality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical oversight and coordination support for existing Payroll Managers and Specialists across North America, EMEA, and APAC to ensure seamless payroll operations globally.
  • Manage day-to-day interactions with payroll vendors, including addressing escalated issues, tracking response patterns, and documenting service standards or accountability terms requiring clarification or improvement.
  • Support the review and signoff process for payroll transactions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
  • Develop and implement global payroll policies and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Monitor compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and internal policies related to payroll operations worldwide.
  • Lead efforts to optimize payroll processes through automation, system enhancements, or process improvements.
  • Collaborate with finance, HR, legal, and other relevant departments to ensure integrated approach to payroll management.
  • Prepare reports on payroll performance metrics, vendor performance, and compliance status for senior leadership review.
  • Stay informed of evolving global payroll regulations and industry best practices to proactively address potential risks or changes impacting payroll operations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing global payroll operations at a senior level, ideally as a Payroll Director or similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of international payroll regulations, compliance standards, and tax laws across multiple regions including North America, EMEA, and APAC.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee multiple teams across different geographies with effective leadership skills.
  • Experience managing relationships with external payroll vendors and service providers.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to support review processes and ensure accuracy in complex payroll environments.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate across diverse teams and stakeholders worldwide.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in payroll systems, automation tools, and data analysis.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing regulatory landscapes while maintaining high standards of operational excellence.

Pay: $40.84 - $100.00 per hour
