The Director of Product is a strategic product leader and innovator with responsibility for Optum's Facility Claim Review products. These are proven, in-market products operating at significant scale across the country - which means the work you drive reaches payers and providers fast and shows up in real accuracy, affordability, and financial outcomes.

Optum Payment Integrity helps health plans and healthcare organizations ensure claims are paid accurately and fairly, reducing unnecessary medical spend across the full claim lifecycle through a combination of advanced analytics, AI, and deep healthcare reimbursement expertise. You will own the product vision, roadmap, and performance ensuring the products deliver measurable client value, scales effectively, and remains differentiated in the market.

Success in this role requires someone who can understand how legacy technology interacts with modernization efforts and new product capabilities.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities

* Set Product Strategy and Investment Priorities + Define and champion the Facility Claim Review vision, product strategy, and multi-year roadmap + Turn payer needs, reimbursement changes, client feedback, and competitive intelligence into clear product choices and investment priorities + Balance product performance, platform health, AI-enabled innovation, and new product development within the broader Payment Integrity strategy * Lead Market and Client Engagement + Serve as the external product leader with payer clients, industry stakeholders, and executive audiences + Lead discovery, roadmap validation, and advisory discussions to identify unmet needs and validate scalable opportunities + Use market insight to inform positioning and keep innovation grounded in real reimbursement and workflow challenges * Deliver and Scale Products + Own the lifecycle from opportunity definition and business case through development, launch, adoption, and improvement + Align engineering, AI/ML, analytics, content, clinical, coding, and operations teams around prioritized outcomes + Advance analytics, decision support, and automation while balancing near-term commitments with scalability and technical health * Drive Growth and Product Performance + Grow the products by expanding adoption across a large installed base and launching new products and audit opportunities + Define positioning, packaging, pricing, and value propositions, and partner with go-to-market, finance, and operations on commercial readiness and value measurement + Own KPIs across financial performance, client value, adoption, accuracy, and product health, using data and financial insight to prioritize action * Lead a Team + Build, coach, and develop a high-performing product team with clear accountability + Give product managers the context and authority to make decisions, manage tradeoffs, and deliver measurable outcomes + Create alignment and clear decision rights across a matrixed organization spanning Product, Technology, Analytics, Content, Operations, and Go-to-Market * Stay Ahead of the Market + Anticipate changes in facility reimbursement, payment policy, regulation, technology, and payer and provider behavior + Identify opportunities across inpatient and outpatient claims and payment models + Represent Optum product leadership at key client and industry forums

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, platform leadership, or business transformation
  • 5+ years of healthcare experience in payment integrity, healthcare payments, health system revenue cycle management
  • Experience with go-to-market strategy, including positioning, pricing, launch readiness, and value measurement
  • Experience working with technology platforms, analytics solutions, APIs and complex system integrations
  • Experience leading and developing product teams and influencing across a matrixed organization

Proven solid analytical and systems-thinking skills, translating complex challenges into scalable product strategies * Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or equivalent experience in business strategy, technology, healthcare, or product leadership
  • Experience launching and scaling enterprise B2B, SaaS, or AI-enabled products in data-intensive environments
  • Experience applying AI or advanced analytics to decision support, review automation, or workflow optimization
  • Working knowledge of Optum and/or UnitedHealth Group
  • Deep knowledge of facility reimbursement methodologies, provider revenue cycle, reimbursement policy, or health plan affordability
  • Proven track record of direct client engagement, from discovery and validation through executive-level collaboration
  • Proven track record of launching successful products that drive measurable impact in competitive markets

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $134,600 - $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
