Job Description

  • Haven Energy is seeking a Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) with experience in the energy sector, climate tech, or high-growth technology companies. The CSO will be responsible for developing and driving the company’s long-term growth strategy, new market expansion, strategic partnerships, and key business initiatives.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the CEO and the Board of Directors to develop the company’s 3–5-year strategic plan, defining the direction for market expansion, business models, and capital allocation.
  • Evaluate business opportunities in energy storage, distributed energy, and VPPs across different U.S. states and electricity markets, and develop market entry strategies.
  • Drive strategic partnerships with utilities, Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs), and other energy organizations.
  • Develop commercialization strategies for VPP and DER aggregation businesses to enhance the long-term economic value of distributed energy storage assets.
  • Evaluate residential energy storage leasing, Solar + Storage, commercial energy storage, and other potential new business models.
  • Lead major corporate development initiatives, including strategic investments, joint ventures, potential mergers and acquisitions, and industry partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the finance team on financing strategies, capital planning, and analysis of major investment projects.
  • Build complex market and financial models to evaluate the return on investment for different business models, markets, and partnership projects.
  • Monitor U.S. energy policy, energy storage incentives, electricity market dynamics, and regulatory changes, and translate policy opportunities into business strategies.
  • Collaborate with product, operations, finance, sales, and supply chain teams to translate corporate strategy into concrete execution plans.
  • Establish company-wide strategic KPIs and regularly report business progress to the CEO, Board of Directors, and investors.
  • Support the company’s national expansion and identify new revenue streams and long-term growth opportunities.
  • Qualifications:
  • Experience in corporate strategy, energy, investment, management consulting, corporate development, or related fields.
  • Experience as a VP of Strategy, Head of Strategy, Corporate Development, or in a similar senior management role.
  • Experience in the energy, electric power, energy storage, climate tech, infrastructure, or related industries is preferred.
  • Familiarity with distributed energy resources (DER), battery storage, VPPs, or the U.S. electricity market is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with utilities, CCAs, energy developers, or government agencies.
  • Experience in strategic financing, project investment, mergers and acquisitions, or corporate development.
  • Ability to build complex business and financial models and translate market data into strategic decisions.
  • Familiarity with U.S. energy policy, energy storage incentives, and the electricity market regulatory environment.
  • Strong negotiation, cross-functional leadership, and board communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, combining strategic thinking with practical execution skills.

Pay: $250,000.00 - $340,000.00 per year
